Securing tracks on the net

When I was told to write an article I did not know what to write about as all the good topics were taken. I stated to think on what to write about; I crossed over an article about a worm on facebook. This got me thinking, how many of us do know how browse safely on the internet. What I mean is that if we can protect our selves from getting viruses or malware on our computers. So I thought, I could write about how to be safe while surfing on the internet.

The first place we need to be careful is our emails providers. Most computers get infected due to spam emails.  You can follow some steps to protect your selves.

Firstly, do not open emails which you don’t know the sender. If you don’t know who the sender is you should not open the email chances are it’s just a spam mail. You should be sure that the mail is from a creditable source before opening it. Then you should not click on a link in a mail to an unknown website. To just check what the website is about you can do a Google search of the first few characters of the URL, for example if the link says “www.thisisawwebsite.com/12urllsk”, just search for “thisisawwebsite.com” in Google. This way you can get some idea what kind of site is it.

Another way a virus can attack your computer is through your browser. Your computer can get infected by just visiting a malicious website. If a website asks to download a file automatically in order to use the site, generally one should not do it. It is important to keep updating our web browsers usually that helps enhance security.

Having a up-to-date antivirus software also helps reduce the risk of your computer to catch a virus.

With social networks like facebook growing, and most of our personal information getting stores somewhere in the internet, we should be careful and keep our computer secure.

school v/s college life

After something that seems like a century, I finally did come up with a topic to write on and it’s going to be the Metamorphosis “School life” to “College life”...and how College actually feels.
A lot of people think School life was cooler, and a lot of them think otherwise. School teachers will tell you to study harder in school, because college is all about fun. College teachers will tell you “Now you’re entering the real world. Study hard, because you won’t be spoon-fed the way you were in school.” School kids can’t wait to get to college, and college students wish they were in school. So I tried to figure out how life changes once you leave the “spoon feeding” and enter “The Real world !!”

What I’m about to explain below can actually be explained in just one line. But since I’ve been asked (cough cough…blackmailed) to write this,I have to extend this post, so even if you’re wishing that this ends here, I’m sorry I can’t do that right now, so I’ll just begin with comparing College with School.

In School, You sleep late, and end up sleeping in class. Switch to College.Instead of sleeping in class, you can choose to stay in bed. In school, you read the schedule to figure out what classes can you miss. You keep a check on the schedule in college to see which classes do you need to attend. School is when you drink water from everyone else's bottles. College is when you smell it before drinking, just to make sure its actually water !! School is when you set your clock ahead of time, just to be on time.In college, neah, it makes no difference, you're still late. In school, you know nothing, and still ace a test. In college, you know everything, and still fail.... You have to wake up for school at 6 a.m. In college, thats when you sleep ! In school, most of your classmates are extremely dumb. In college...well...that's one thing that doesn't really change.

Thats what College life is.Well, thats a lot like what it is,atleast in the beginning. Living the most amazing days, and still thinking to yourself "I hate my Life !!". Its when you are so busy, that you don't have time to do your homework. It's when you're stressed out,and can't figure out why. It's when you begin liking your cafeteria, just because you realize that "horrible coffee" is better than "no coffee". It's when you have 4 essays and a midterm all due within 3 days of each other and you are out partying with friends.College is...When You "discover" a new cute girl on campus everyday! It's when every cancelled class is as exciting as christmas. Its when weekends start on Thursdays. Actually...Wednesdays.College is, When procrastination becomes an art.

On a more serious note,Theres more to college life, other than what I mentioned above.Things like Studies..Assignments...Examinations...and Loads of depression given by the three. But I don't really want to write about that.An optimist sees the glass as half full.A pessimist sees it as half empty.I see a complete story in it.I believe that if the glass is half full...so there'll be a super cute waitress who'll cum n fill it up to make it completely full...who'll instantly fall in love with me...after 6 months of dating, she'll tell me she's actually the princess of a Victorian state and was disguised just to find true love...so we'll marry in a palace...then our child will grow up to be prime minister...and after conquering USA,we'll attack china...then..

I realize that this article is actually going nowhere,so I guess I should end it here.Lessons, morals, and quotes are a good way to put an end to an article. What I'll leave you is with a thought...(actually an excuse for highlighing only the yummier elements of college life, and not the deeper darker parts...but it's true). Sometimes, leaving the negatives behind, and looking at the positives actually does make life cooler. And admit it, reading an extremely random article about College Life is interesting !!

Experience at IILM

I joined IILM in late august about 2 weeks after the starting of the collage. Coming from a place like Bangalore which is very different from Gurgaon but the transition was very comfortable to here and I was accepted here with an open mind. At that time the zero term was on with basics of all subjects being taught to us as well as activities such as role play, music classes and personality development. This really helped us by providing a good base for our introduction into the Bradford system of learning. Then the first term started with us being introduced into new subjects like organisational behaviour, business law and student self development and a base of economics, accounts and marketing being taught to us. Phew it was tough but fun too. I Enjoyed every bit of it.

A lot of emphasis was put by the lecturers about these bases which proved to be very useful in the second semester. In which the level of the subjects went up a notch and our basics where put to the test. New subjects also came up like sociology of work and research skills, which helped us in dealing with people how they work and how best we can research on topics.

A lot of interesting guest lecturers also took place with lecturers coming from different industries giving us their experiences and how they went about their growth success. At the same time there were also a lot of personal interactions taking place between the students and the lectures about helping us choose our subjects for the 2nd year which really helped us make our final choice.

Now that I have reached the second year I am really thankful that I've taken up this course offered by
Bradford and IILM which gives me the international exposure in terms of learning which in today's world is a key ingredient for success in this one world economy.
