Examination System at IILM:

The examination system in IILM is run according to the University if Bradford. Here we have a 2 semester system leaving aside the zero term which helps polish the transition between school to college.

Each year we start with a zero term which is designed to make us understand and get used to the various concepts which we will face throughout the year. This term holds great importance in dealing with the courses in the semesters that follow. Both semesters are a good balance of easy, interesting and challenging courses. In the first semester courses such as Quantitative methods of Information management have challenged us and enriched us at the same time, second semester courses only get more interesting.

Examination time is stressful in every student’s life and IILM tries its level best to ease the process for us. Each of our lecturers provided us with enough time to revise and fully understand what the exam format expects out of us. Previous year’s revision papers are made available for the students and the lecturers guide us through.

The best method of preparation is for the students to practice questions in an examination environment, and IILM understand this need. Every semester we have a series of mock exams which emulate the Bradford examination system hence preparing students adequately for the final term.

Hence examinations are a much dreaded period in every student’s life but IILM makes it as easy as an institute can.

Summer time

What time is it?

Summer Time! It is the much awaited season- SUMMERS!! So take swim suits leave behind the blacks and grey and spunk it up with the colors! The sun might be scorching but we have our refreshers- cocktails and mocktails and our desi lassis and nimbu panis to beat the heat and not to forget ice-creams.

For those who would like to spend time more productively, we have various internship programmes and summer camps to unleash their creativity. Amusement parks are out with, their water rides- so, it’s time to explore these with your old and new friends. Other than these, summers are the best time to explore good movies and books. And it is always nice to indulge in social service!

So, put these summers to good use – have fun and spend, time usefully and yes, don’t forget to use sunscreen lest you shall return to college looking like something else!!

Voting

Hey all… well the topic might not be interesting as you would have read about it every where but trust me the content is worth a check out..

Lok-Sabha 2009 election was schedule for  7th may in Delhi and Haryana, it was then when I casted my first lok-sabha vote cause it was, my 1st election after I became 18…wooo hell lot of responsibility..

It was my first vote.. I was so excited to look at the machine, the booth officer and all the country men and women who would come there with same or different opinions.

I still remember I was so enthusiastic that day, specially to cast my vote I got up at 8’o, clock in the morning and got ready before my dog could actually finish his morning food..offff

While on the way to voting-booth I asked my dad around 10,000 questions and my mum was laughing at me.. offffff I still don’t know why was she laughing, I mean com’mon I was not acting wired I was just inquisitive.

Finally when I reached the voting booth I saw 100 to 150 people and a great feeling of nationality roared in me, which usually come out during the time of a cricket match between India and Pakistan…lolzz…

but on a serious note , I was scared and I asked my dad one question..

“Dady, is it important to vote”

my dad, said “what’s wrong” ,

I was like.. “nothing really but it’s a great responsibility and moreover 1 vote would not make a difference but might spoil up things more”,

my dad turned at me that moment and said, “it would make a difference, you belong to this country and people have sacrificed their life to get this right of voting, you should be proud of your rights not insult them by ignoring. So make up your mind and take your decision wisely”.

At that moment I felt ‘REAL’..

I am a teenager and people like me often do things which are only cool and stay away from politics and all …..but that time when I finaly went to the booth and had that mark on my fingure I was fealing “an Indian”.

When I went there I knew whom to vote for and the best part was not because my mum and dad wanted me to vote for him,

Nor because my boy-friend wanted me to vote for him,

Not because he had manipulative speeches,

Not because he had film star to campaign for his party,

Not because once he was a famous film star,

Not because he was a famous cricketer,

Not because he had good relations with my favorite actor,

Not because he is a son of a famous politician,

BECAUSE I HAD FULL CONFIDENCE ON MY DECISION AND I KNEW HE AND HIS SUPPORTIVE PARTY COULD DO AND HAVE DONE WONDERS IN PAST AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO IN PRESENT AND FUTURE.

I VOTED FOR ‘AJAY MAKHAN- UPA’.

In this whole experience of voting I had learnt An encouraging lesson of growing up and standing firm on decision, I am proud to be an Indian.

Trust me guys… voting and being an Indian is not out of fashion nor is it ‘not cool’ or ‘crummy’… if you have not casted your vote this time then indulge your self from starting in the next elections, know the name of the candidates , know the name of the parties evolved and know the name of the person you want to vote, know his portfolio, know his past and present area of working because “your right move will decide the ruling party who can make all the moves in the country”….

And trust me “YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE”.

Keep voting

For a change I wont say ciao…

Jai hind…

Marketing v/s Finance

Hey all…..well finally exams are over and I am free bird…its so amazing cause after preparing for the whole year and having hectic nights and pathetic tension, one gets an opportunity to sigh and relax for at least 3 months…wow!!!.

Well I am writing this actually for students who have to make choice regarding their subjects in second year and are still having mind boggling night mare about what to choose and what not to choose…

So here I go……

Marketing is a very vast area where one can actually grow and grow without stopping and it’s a very challenging field, in my opinion a person should opt for marketing incase:

1. you have a hand on the marketing concepts.

2. you have good communication skills, to actualy influence or pursued someone.

3. you have high interest in marketing.

4. you believe in growing .

5. you are good in observation.

5. you want to explore the business world from front.

Finance is a field where in there is much more than just numbers attached to it. It is field of great interest, in my opinion a person should opt for finance incase:

1. you are good in numbers

2. you are extremely dedicated

3. you have interest in stock market

4. you think balance sheet is interesting.

In my opinion both these fields are very important as an organization can not exists without finance department or marketing department.

I have come across many people who say that, “ohh, you have taken marketing, why? , I think finance is better ”. Well in this case I petty people who actually can even compare marketing and finance, as if one cannot have favorites among their 2 hands then choosing between finance and marketing is simply stupidity.

I am marketing student and I can go on and on regarding marketing those who think that marketing is very easy then I would love them to actually step in my shoes and learn all the theories of consumer behaviour and know all the models of product innovation. Trust me both marketing and finance are tough but finance is way scoring and marketing is not cause one need to know all the theories up right center completely and need to have their basics correct.

I would wish all my juniors best of luck and advice them to choose their subjects intelligently and smartly.

Let it be Finance or Marketing trust me wonders can happen if u put in your 100% and be dedicated in what you do.

EXAMINATIONS

It is nerve wracking, it might weigh you down but if taken in the right spirit, it can be dealt with quite smoothly. Yes, it is – Exams!!

Exams can be a BIG trouble and major source of stress but it can be handled. Make time-tables, follow them, prepare in advance and voila! We can handle them with a lot more ease. A quick revision is all that is required the day before. Be sure to get enough sleep during exams because lack of sleep hampers memory and dreams both, the mind and the body.

Exams at IILM are a lot easier. We have mid-terms which can be counted as mock exams. These help the students prepare for the final examinations. Besides, with adequate preparation material and teachers ever-ready to help, exams just become a cake-walk.

With the right kind of attitude and spirit, exams become just another challenge which we can rise up to. They evoke a sense of competition which helps us attain greater heights. And now that exams are over and summers are around the corner, wait up for my next article on summers!!

IILM at glance

In Persian Language IILM or 'ilm' means  'knowlegde '

I think is the apt title that can define my college( at least at academic level!!!!!).
I feel IILM is a gr8 platform to earn knowlegde and expereince and procure noteworthy position in highly competitive corporate world.

Well, before u start nagging yourselves, thinking'......  what makes IILM so expectional.
     I will  explain u all!!!!!!!!

Actually its teaching methodology( the way makes us picturize the real world of business!!!!)

Well the alloted procedure of  our class sessions are segmented as follows:

LECTURE:     Interaction session among teachers, students and blackboard.
We have study material on our official blackboard site.

Sudents prepares notes and later discuss with professors in lecture sessions.
And a healthy discussion goes on........

TUTORIALS:  The whole class is divided into groups and seperate tutorials sessions areheld, where students discusses his/ her doubts about the subject.

I must say it like regular college plus an in- house tution facility for embarking knowlegde in each student.

It's like the finishing over a polished dimonds(students). So, we shine out brightly when we out to our real owner( business world).

This itself sketches a picture how IILM prepares great business learners and leaders both!!!!!!!!
Well that's all for this week!!!!!!!!!
